In this artwork, I confront the tension between life and death through the monumental presence of an oversized skull. By working in a monochromatic palette, I emphasize form, texture, and shadow, allowing the skull to feel almost sculptural. The careful use of contrast gives it a calm, grounded stillness.. an image that feels solid, timeless, and unavoidable.
This sense of control is deliberately disrupted by the background. A vibrant pink field collides with raw black graffiti tags, injecting chaos, movement, and rebellion into the composition. Pink is chosen intentionally. Not as softness, but as energy. It challenges expectations and brings vitality to a symbol often associated with finality and decay.
The collision between abstract realism and expressive graffiti reflects my ongoing exploration of impermanence and identity. The skull stands as a reminder of mortality, while the tags speak to ego, presence, and the human need to leave a mark. Together, they create a visual tension that invites the viewer to reconsider beauty.. not as something permanent, but as something powerful precisely because it is temporary.
