In this artwork, I translate the human face into rhythm, structure, and contrast. Using only black and white, I construct the portrait through vertical linework, allowing repetition and variation to shape emotion rather than traditional brushstrokes.

Each line is intentionally placed to create optical movement, drawing the viewer closer and encouraging prolonged engagement. Negative space becomes just as important as the lines themselves, forming depth, tension, and balance. The image shifts depending on distance and perspective, challenging the viewer’s perception and inviting interpretation.

This piece reflects my ongoing exploration of urban-inspired fine art where minimal elements are used to create powerful, layered imagery. It blurs the boundary between abstraction and realism, transforming simplicity into complexity through precision and discipline.

Medium: Aerosol paint
Style: Contemporary urban / abstract portrait
Edition: Original
