In this artwork, I use vertical lines to break the image apart and reveal it at the same time. The face doesn’t present itself instantly, it emerges from abstraction, sliced by rhythm and structure. Working in a monochrome palette allows me to focus entirely on contrast, tension, and form, using light and shadow as the primary tools.
Textured brushstrokes introduce depth and movement beneath the linear surface. They soften the rigidity of the lines and add a sense of instability, as if the image is shifting between presence and absence. The expression remains deliberately ambiguous, inviting the viewer to project their own interpretation rather than receive a fixed narrative.
This piece explores fragmented reality and the way identity is perceived rather than defined. By merging figurative elements with abstraction, I aim to create a portrait that feels unresolved.. one that demands attention, slows the viewer down, and exists in the space between clarity and mystery.
